Algonquin Recreation Dept. - New Partnership for educational workshops

From the Village of Algonquin: The Algonquin Recreation Department is excited to announce a new partnership with Fishman Miller PC Attorneys to offer FREE educational workshops/seminars to our community! These FREE seminars will run once a month, on the second Wednesday of the month, at two different times for your convenience: 1:00pm or 6:30pm at Algonquin Historic Village Hall. The first workshop will kick off next week on Wednesday, January 11th and will focus on the Basics of Estate Planning. Village Board Meeting - Jan. 3rd

Happy New Year! The Village Board's first meeting for the year will be held on Tuesday, January 3rd at 7:30 p.m., 2200 Harnish Drive. The agenda items include: administration of oath of office to Police Chief Dennis Walker; resolution for street light maintenance; approve bills & previous meeting minutes; a resolution opposing a conditional use permit for a residential care facility at 9709 Zimmer Dr., Algonquin; and executive session for personnel matters/land acquisition. There is a public comment period at the beginning of each meeting. Please register with the Village Clerk prior to the meeting start time 7:30 p.m.

Congratulations Chief Walker!

From the Village of Algonquin: The Village of Algonquin is pleased to announce the appointment of Dennis Walker as the new Chief of Police for the Algonquin Police Department. Walker brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the position, having been an active member of the community throughout his 25 years of dedicated service.

"We are thrilled to have Dennis Walker as our new Chief and are confident in his ability to lead the Algonquin Police Department," said Village President Debby Sosine. Departure of Chief Bucci

From the Village of Algonquin: The Village of #Algonquin is announcing the departure of Chief John Bucci from the Algonquin Police Department. Chief Bucci has been appointed as Undersheriff of the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, effective January 3, 2023.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as Chief of Police in Algonquin for the past eight years and am proud of the work we have accomplished together as a team," said Chief Bucci. "I am excited for this new opportunity to continue serving the community in a different capacity and am confident that the Algonquin Police Department will continue to thrive under new leadership."

Village Meetings on Tuesday, Dec. 20

There will be four Village meetings held on Tuesday, Dec. 20 starting at 7:25 p.m. with a Public Hearing on the Galleria Center - Enclave. The Village Board meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Committee of the Whole meeting will begin at 7:45 p.m. followed by a Village Board Special meeting. The Goldfish Swim School is open near Kohl’s/Target/Ortho Illinois. It’s a beautiful facility with a convenient location for swimming lessons, birthday parties, and company family events.

The Village Board will be meeting on Tuesday, December 6 starting at 7:15 p.m. for the Public Hearing on a proposed Special Service Area (SSA) for outlots at NorthPoint Algonquin Corporate Campus. You might wonder what's a SSA? Once approved, a SSA would allow the Village to collect a determined % from the property owner if the party failed to maintain the designated water retention/open space area. Miracle on Main

Miracle on Main, including a holiday market was held on December 3rd in downtown Algonquin. Miracle on Main included a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus; vocalists; carolers; real reindeers; juggler; ice sculptor creating a reindeer from an ice block; and the lighting of the tree. There were many opportunities to take photos with decorative holiday features, Thank you to the sponsors and businesses that supported Miracle on Main.. It was a very festive time!
